SUNDAY 8th October 2023
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The conference will take place online and will include curators and organizers from some of the most active poetry and video poetry festivals in the world.
The goal of our conference is to open creative dialogue, a platform to share visions and ideas, problems and solutions, exchange experiences, and creative ways of collaboration. Therefore, taking into account your experience and competence, we would like to organize two round table sessions in which your role will be highlighted. This conversation will look into the challenges that video-poetry and literary festivals face nowadays and what will be the future of this type of events.
Conceived and presented by the members of the Institute for Experimental Arts and supported by the Greek Ministry of Culture, this is a conference that we hope will result in collaborations and deepening of our understanding about poetry in the 21st century.

The International Poetry Film Festival of Thuringia is an annual festival dedicated to the genres of poetry film and video poetry. The center of the festival is the presentation of the Weimar Poetry Film Award at the Lichhaus cinema. The festival wants to stimulate and perpetuate the exchange between literature and media art, between filmmakers and authors in Thuringia and Central Germany. Weimar is a place of literature and art, and a city of great poets and poetry. It lends itself particularly well to such an ambition. The festival is characterized by the close connection between an international competition, its own film production, and the Poetry film magazine.
The Film and Video Poetry Society
The Film and Video Poetry Society (FVPS or FVPSociety) mission is to encourage poets to further their ongoing explorations within the fields of filmmaking, video, digital, and media art. Our platform celebrates the convergence of these fields and we will provide a space for these artists and practitioners to activate, collaborate, discuss, and maintain creative work. FVPSociety will embrace alternative modes of story form such as; though not limited to, Essay Film, Epistolary Cinema, and Intercultural Cinema. We acknowledge Artists’ Moving Image and Experimental Filmmaking as fundamental practices within our community and will continue to develop outreach through the lens of all these art forms.
The European Poetry Festival is the biggest consistent celebration of continental poetry in the UK, ever. For six years as a festival, and a decade as an event series, over 1000 European poets have performed new collaborations across the British Isles. The festival celebrates, in the UK and beyond, the grand resurgence in avant-garde and literary poetry that has marked the 21st century across Europe and it aims to not only innovate what a live poetry experience might be, but to inculcate community and engagement between poets across the continent, as well as between new audiences and complex poetries.
Versopolis was founded in 2014 as a European poetry platform that builds novel opportunities for emerging European poets. It envisages continuation of cooperation and growth, given that it was selected from two open calls within the Support for European Platforms initiative by Creative Europe.
